FIRE COMMISSIONER NICHOLAS SCOPPETTA TO PRESENT $25,000 CHECK ON BEHALF OF FDNY TO US MARINE AND LONG ISLAND VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTER LANCE CORPORAL IAN LENNON
Lennon was badly burned in an explosion while serving overseas
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta tomorrow will present a check for $25,000 to US Marine Lance Corporal Ian Lennon. Lennon was injured in an explosion in Kuwait while serving our country. As a result of the explosion he was badly burned. He is a volunteer firefighter and resident of Long Island and has incurred large hospital bills due to the extensive nature of his injuries. A collection was made in all NYC Firehouses and the overwhelming support and bond between firefighters and military personnel resulted in the collection of $25,000. The check presentation will take place in the lobby of FDNY Headquarters in front of the Fire Department Memorial Wall and Commissioner Scoppetta will be joined by members of FDNY and the US Marine Corps, as well as members of the Lennon family.
