Ceremony for 292 Probationary Firefighters
Class is one of the most diverse
to graduate the Fire Academy in decades
Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta tomorrow will preside
over a graduation ceremony for 292 Probationary Firefighters.
The “Probies” have successfully completed the
rigorous 12-week training program and will now be assigned
to fire companies throughout the five boroughs. The class
is one of the most diverse in recent history. More than twenty
percent of the class are minorities, and four of tomorrow’s
graduates are female.
