FIRE COMMISSIONER NICHOLAS SCOPPETTA TO OFFICIATE
AT PROMOTIONAL CEREMONY FOR 76 MEMBERS OF THE NEW YORK CITY FIRE DEPARTMENT
Tomorrow Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta will preside over a promotional
ceremony for 76 members of the New York City Fire Department. Members of both
Fire and EMS will be elevated in rank at the ceremony. The 67 promotions include
Assistant Chief, Deputy Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, Battalion Chief, Captain,
Lieutenant, Pilot, and Marine Engineer. Included in tomorrow’s promotions
to Battalion Chief will be Captain Rochelle Jones, the first female firefighter
in the history of the New York City Fire Department to be promoted to the
rank of chief. EMS will also advance nine of its members to senior positions
such
as Deputy Assistant Chief, Division Chief, Deputy Chief, and Captain. All
members will be assigned to divisions throughout the city.
