FIRE COMMISSIONER NICHOLAS SCOPPETTA TO ATTEND
FUNERAL SERVICE FOR CAPTAIN VERNON RICHARD

Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta tomorrow will attend a funeral service for Captain Vernon Richard, 53, of Ladder Company 7. Captain Richard was a 23-year veteran of FDNY and one of six members of Manhattan’s Ladder Company 7 lost on 9-11. The funeral will be held at First Baptist Church in Spring Valley, NY at 1 PM. His wife, Dorothy, and their two grown children – Vernon Allen Richard II and Vernessa, survive him. A memorial service was held in his memory on December 8, 2001.
