On Saturday night (2/15) at 9:30PM, a licensed fireworks display will take place when a wedding cruise celebration aboard NY Yacht's "Yacht Romantica" passes the southern tip of Roosevelt Island. The non-explosive, electronically charged display, which will last approximately two minutes, will be produced by the Vineland Fireworks Company and has been authorized by the FDNY Explosives Unit. The FDNY Explosive Inspectors, an FDNY Fireboat on standby, and NYPD Harbor Patrol will be on hand for the duration of the display. In this time of heightened security, we want to stress that this is a licensed fireworks display and that the FDNY is taking all appropriate security measures and precautions.
