New York Sports Clubs to donate over
$4 million in services for FDNY recruitment initiative
Tomorrow, Fire Commissioner Nicholas Scoppetta will join
with New York Sports Clubs (NYSC) CEO Bob Giardina to announce
a partnership that will allow prospective firefighters access
to NYSC facilities free of charge to train for the upcoming
FDNY physical exam. The partnership was developed with the
assistance of the NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund.
The initiative offers prospective firefighter candidates
a free 6-month membership and training specifically geared
toward the grueling FDNY physical exam. In addition the NYSC
has also developed an exclusive eight-week physical training
program for women who have passed the written exam. This program
is designed to help train women for the exam by building both
