The Mayor of New York City

The Mayor of New York CityThe EMTs and Paramedics of New York City’s Emergency Medical Service always remain at the ready to assist New Yorkers in distress. EMS Medal Day is a wonderful opportunity to recognize individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in one of our most demanding and vital professions.

More than 3000 times each day, the men and women of our EMS come to the aid of the New Yorkers who need them most, saving lives by providing the finest pre-hospital care in the world. From administering CPR to delivering a child, the challenges EMS workers face are often unpredictable, but these great New Yorkers are always distinguished by their professionalism, skill and courage.

Today, I applaud all those who comprise New York City’s Emergency Medical Service. Your selflessness and commitment to protecting human life reflect our highest shared values. I congratulate you on receiving the recognition you deserve.
