Radio operations play a critical role between Emergency Medical Dispatch and EMS units in the field. Acknowledging that there is always room for improvement, the Bureau of Communications reviewed its radio operations to improve and streamline dispatch operations.
The above-listed members of the Bureau were given that objective to meet. Many hours were spent meticulously reviewing procedures, command orders, EMD orders and memorandums with the intent of improving communications between Dispatch and field units.
The six being honored today developed a 90-minute training session for all EMS personnel that now is being conducted during the annual Bureau of Health Services medical. The curriculum consists of key items, such as computer suggested unit recommendations, radio etiquette, EMD dispatching methodology and response to MCIs.
To date, the feedback has been encouraging. Members in the field now have a better understanding of Emergency Medical Dispatch Operations. This endeavor will be continued to improve the relationship and understanding of the operations.
These employees--Captains Frank D’Amato, Anthony V. Napoli and Philip Chindelas, Lieutenants Michael Silver and Patrick Walker and EMT William Rich--have demonstrated dedication. Together, they helped make marked enhancements to radio operations. They are the worthy recipients of the Bureau of Communications Emergency Medical Dispatch Commendation for 2005.--JP |
