Chief of Department
Peter J. Ganci Jr
|
Peter J. Ganci has most recently
been serving in the positions of Chief of Operations
and Acting Chief of Department, New York City Fire
Department. He was appointed to the New York City
Fire Department in 1968 and has been promoted through
the ranks since that time.
During the years of 1994 through 1996, Chief Ganci
served as Chief in Charge of the Bureau of Fire Investigation
where he was responsible for revamping the Bureau
and instituting new programs and procedures to bring
the unit into the 21st century.
In January, 1996
he was appointed Chief of Operations, the second highest
uniformed position in the Fire Department, overseeing
day to day management of
all line units with the top concerns of fire suppression
and the safety of members operating in the field.
Most recently,
Chief Ganci has been serving the Department in the
title of Acting Chief of Department, the highest uniformed
position in the New York City Fire Department. He
is responsible for the prevention and extinguishment
of fires and the protection of life and property from
fire and\or disaster in the City of New York.
Chief Ganci resides
in Massapequa, New York with his wife, Kathleen. They
have been married for 26 years, and have three children,
Peter, 25, Christopher, 23 and Danielle, 20.

Chief of Operations
Daniel A. Nigro

Daniel A. Nigro, currently
holds the title of Chief of Operations, of the New
York City Fire Department. He was appointed to the
Department in 1969 and has been assigned to several
boroughs while being promoted through the ranks.
During the time
from 1996 through 1997, Chief Nigro served as Chief
in Charge of the Emergency Medical Service Command
where he oversaw the merger of the Emergency Medical
Service into the Fire Department. His
most recently held position was that of Citywide Tour
Commander, responsible
for the Operations Planning team and citywide fire
coverage of multiple alarms.
In October, 1999
he was appointed Chief of Operations, the second highest
uniformed position in the Fire Department, overseeing
day to day management of all line units with the top
concerns of fire suppression and the safety of members
operating in the field.
Chief Nigro resides
in Whitestone, Queens with his wife Lynn. They have
been married for 28 years and have two daughters Lisa,
age 22 and Lori, age 16.
