FDNY Members Join Wounded Warriors for 10th Annual Soldier Ride
The Soldier Ride kicks off in Midtown Manhattan.
FDNY cyclists joined the Wounded Warriors for the annual Soldier Ride from Midtown Manhattan to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, on July 17.
“They call us the Bravest, but it’s your bravery and sacrifice that brought us here today,” Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said.
The four-day event is a way for members of the Wounded Warriors Project to support returning soldiers, encouraging them to use cycling to overcome wounds.
Along the route, the group stopped to lay wreaths at the 9/11 memorial outside FDNY Headquarters.
During their ride through New York City, the group stopped by FDNY Headquarters to lay a wreath at a 9/11 memorial outside. Along the entire route they were greeted by FDNY members on fire apparatus, ambulances and fireboats.
“There’s nothing we can say other than ‘thank you’ for the sacrifices you and your families have made for us,” Chief of Department Edward Kilduff said.
