FDNY Honors Women’s History Month with Awards Ceremony

The FDNY honored seven high-achieving women on March 26, during a Women’s History Month ceremony at FDNY Headquarters.
“Every woman in this job is contributing to making sure this Department runs smoothly,” Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano said.
The honorees included Carol Chodes, Computer Specialist for the Bureau of Technology Development and Systems; EMS Division Chief Ann Fitton, Bureau of Training; Fire Lt. Michele Fitzsimmons, Engine 67; Dr. Kerry Kelly, Chief Medical Officer from the Bureau of Health Services; Nafeesah Noonan, Deputy Director of the Office of Recruitment and Diversity; Fire Lt. Anna Schermerhorn-Collins, Engine 93; and EMT Amanda Schmidt, Center for Terrorism and Disaster Preparedness.
“A wonderful group is being honored here today, who represent what we do as a Department,” Chief of Department Edward Kilduff said. “They show what it takes to make this Department run.”
The seven honorees came from a variety of units throughout the Department.
