Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano and Chief of Department Edward Kilduff swore in 17-year-old Seth Kelly as an Honorary Firefighter on Dec. 16.

“I don’t know if I have ever met anyone as brave as Seth,” Commissioner Cassano said during the ceremony at FDNY Headquarters. “We’re happy and proud to make you a member of our family.

Seth, who is from upstate New York, visited the various bureaus within the FDNY with his family, including his mother and step-father, Kathy and Jeff Bird, his sisters, Cassandra and Kate Kelly, and his grandmother, Patricia Bates.
