Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano starts rappelling approximately 40 stories for the American Cancer Society's Over the Edge challenge.
Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano rappelled approximately 40 stories down a high-rise building as part of the American Cancer Society’s Over the Edge challenge on Sept. 28. He was the top fundraiser for the event, raising more than $16,500 in honor of all FDNY members who have battled or who are currently battling cancer.

The event, which took place outside Harborside Financial Center Plaza 5 in Jersey City, N.J., also included local celebrities like Rutgers basketball coach Mike Rice and radio personality Greg Tyndorf from the Elvis Duran Morning Show.
Commissioner Cassano said he was excited to take part in such a great event, and was not deterred by the inclement weather, taking time to wave to his friends and family below as he rappelled. |
