The FDNY received a $32,000 grant on Apr. 30 from Taylor & Taylor Associates, Inc. and the Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company for the purchase of video editing equipment and software to enhance the training of its members.
“The videos our Audio/Visual unit produces help keep our members safe every day,” Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano said during a ceremony at FDNY Headquarters. “I know we’ll get a lot of use out of this equipment.”
This generous grant was used to purchase two multimedia editing stations with software, as well as a video camera and other related equipment. The customized videos and multimedia presentations produced thanks to this grant will be used to train FDNY firefighters, paramedics and EMTs on new procedures, protocols, equipment and operations.
“We’re aware of the dangers firefighters face today,” said Terry McCormick, Territory Sales Executive at Fireman’s Fund. “We don’t think of this as a check writing campaign, it’s an investment in our community.”
The grant will support the FDNY's Audio/Visual unit, which produces training videos for FDNY members.
This the third grant to the FDNY from Taylor & Taylor Associates, Inc. Since December 2006, Fireman’s Fund has awarded the FDNY grants totaling more than $449,000.
“If you train someone, you give [him or her] many opportunities,” said Scott Taylor, President of Taylor & Taylor Associates.
Matt Miller, President of the Association of Independent Commercial Producers, added, “Having the private sector give - this is what cities are all about. We’re grateful Fireman’s Fund and Taylor & Taylor are willing to step up.”
