It is a pleasure to welcome everyone to the Administrative Awards ceremony of the New York City Fire Department.

We all know that the FDNY is the world’s greatest fire department. Our brave, dedicated Firefighters, Paramedics and EMTs sacrifice so much to keep our City safe and we are all grateful for their efforts. The heroes of the FDNY, however, also include many other exemplary New Yorkers--more than 1500 civilian employees and uniformed members whose administrative support ensures the Department’s smooth operation. The recipients of this year’s Administrative Awards have performed an essential service for the City’s first responders and for all New Yorkers. This ceremony is our small way of saying thanks.
