Recognizing Human Trafficking: Guidelines for Health Care Providers

The Mayor’s Office Survivors of Human Exploitation Working Group has partnered with Safe Horizon to develop a free, anti-human trafficking introductory training tool specifically for medical and mental health professionals.  The tool, Recognizing Human Trafficking: Guidelines for Health Care Providers, is designed to introduce medical professionals to ways they can recognize, identify and respond to potential victims of human trafficking they might encounter in their day-to-day practices.  The New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation will join the partnership to disseminate the tool to its 11 hospital emergency department teams throughout New York City. Recognizing Human Trafficking: Guidelines for Health Care Providers is available on the Mayor’s Office anti-human trafficking website and can be downloaded by any medical professionals.  To make best use of the tool, medical professionals are recommended to have human trafficking service providers or experts tailor the training to the needs of their staff.
