In some cases, the agency that gave you the ticket will give you a chance to enter into an agreement. This agreement is called a stipulation. The agreement may give you extra time to fix the problems stated on the ticket. You will still have to pay a fine. This fine may be less than the fine you would have to pay if you came in for a hearing.
If you enter into the agreement, you are admitting that you are responsible for the problems on the ticket. You are also giving up your right to a hearing. You will not be able to appeal.
If you enter into the agreement, you will not have to come to ECB for a hearing.
If you are eligible to enter into an agreement, the agency will send you a letter. This letter may have more terms for the agreement. For example, you may be given more time to fix the problems stated on the ticket.
Are you eligible?
If you are eligible to enter into an agreement, the agency will send you a letter.
What do you need to do?
Complete the forms that come with the letter. Then send the forms and your payment to ECB. This must be done at least five days before the date the case is scheduled to be heard.
If you do not send back the forms in time, you must come to ECB on your hearing date to answer the ticket.
If you do not accept the agreement, you must come to ECB on your hearing date to answer the ticket.
What happens?
If you mail back the forms in time, ECB will send you a decision. The decision will state the terms of the agreement.
