Payments online are made through the Department of Finance's ePayment Center. You will need your ticket number. An extra fee is charged if you pay online.

Pay by Mail
Mail a check or money order for the full amount of the fine. Do not send cash.

Pay in Person
You may pay in person, with a check or money order, at any ECB location. You may also pay in person with cash, a check or a money order at a Finance Business Center. You will need your ticket or ticket number in order to pay the fine.

What if you don't pay
If you do not pay, you may be charged higher fines. If you do not pay, ECB may file papers with the Civil Court of New York City. This is called docketing a judgment.  We may also file these papers with certain other courts.  Also, if the judge has ordered you to fix the problems stated on the ticket and you do not, ECB might also:

  • place a lien on your property;
  • seal equipment you need to operate your business;
  • deny an application for a City permit in the future;
  • hire someone to try to collect the money you owe.
