Resolve Department of Buildings Violations Without a Hearing

Starting September 22, 2010 respondents who receive a Department of Buildings violation and wish to admit the charge, will not have to attend a hearing at the Environmental Control Board.

Respondents who choose to plead guilty can pay the minimum penalty by mail or at any ECB office anytime before – or on the day of – the scheduled hearing at ECB.

Please send payments to:
Environmental Control Board
P.O. Box 2307
Peck Slip Station
New York, NY 10272

Please note: You must include the Notice of Violation number on the face of your check. After you admit to the violation and pay the penalty, there is nothing more you need to do at ECB. However, you will still need to correct the violating conditions and submit a certificate of correction to the Department of Buildings. Uncorrected violations are subject to re-inspection, additional violations and fines. Admitting the violation waives your right to appeal.

Respondents who choose to present a defense in response to the Notice of Violation, should attend the hearing at ECB on the date provided.
