Building a Stronger Organization

Technical Assistance Frequently Asked Questions

How does technical assistance impact the people an organization serves? Technical assistance can increase an organization/program’s ability to achieve its mission and strengthen its programming in many different ways. For example, a project that helps an organization to develop its board’s fundraising skills will give that organization tools to raise additional funds. With more funds, an organization can serve more youth. Technical assistance services strengthen organizations so they are able to devote themselves to doing what they do best, which is supporting New York City youth, communities and families.

Why do organizations need technical assistance services? Organizations require technical assistance services for a range of reasons including things like
  • increasing programmatic impact,
  • strengthening organizational infrastructure,
  • navigating a transition or crisis at the organization and
  • facing external challenges.

Who is eligible to receive DYCD technical assistance services? All DYCD funded nonprofits and DYCD staff are eligible for no cost technical assistance services.

What does it cost the organizations? There is no cost to organizations! This is a very helpful service that DYCD provides to all of the agencies that it contracts with to support and enhance their ability to provide the best programs and services to New York City youth, families and communities.
