JUNE 13, 2009 Some 300 young people gathered
at Polytechnic Institute in Brooklyn for the FIRST Lego League
Championship. Participants put the robots they designed and built to the
test before a panel of judges. The championship was the culmination
of DYCD’s Robotics Initiative, a ten-week program that engages young
people from 40 Out-of-School Time programs and Beacon Community

JUNE 4, 2009 Several OST programs in the Rockaways gathered at
Michaelis-Bayswater Park on June 4th, 2009 for the 4th annual Fun on the
Rock event. Participants started the day by decorating banners while
incorporating the theme of unity. Later they took part in potato sack
races, tennis, fencing and karate lessons, basketball clinics, and face
