Interagency Coordinating Counci on Youth

ICC Work Groups

Work groups help to develop innovative and focused approaches to further advance programs for youth and families.  By doing so youth program approaches are infused with current trends that contribute to their viability and long term success of youth.
  • Court-Involved Youth Work Group - The goal of the Court-Involved Youth Work Group is to develop and strengthen interagency collaborations and partnerships while simultaneously improving the effectiveness and quality of service rendered to court-involved youth and their families.

  • After School Work Group - The focus of the After School Work Group is interagency collaboration for purposes of promoting quality after-school and extended-learning opportunities for New York City youth.

  • Youth Violence Prevention Work Group - The Interagency Coordinating Council on Youth (ICC) officially kicked-off its Youth Violence Prevention Work Group at City Hall on Thursday, March 18, 2010.  The work group was formed following a call to action by Mayor Bloomberg in his State of the City Address in which he challenged the City to focus on a stronger, more coordinated effort to improve the lives of our city’s youth.  In support of this, the work group will analyze the causes, scope and consequences of youth violence, looking at existing resources and program models within New York City, and explore best practices. Leading the Work Group is Fatima Ashraf, Senior Policy Advisor Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education & Community Development, Norbert Davidson, Program Coordinator Gang Prevention Unit for the Department of Education, Wanda Ascherl, Beacon Director and Wilson Cano Deputy Director for DYCD. The Work Group is comprised of City agencies, and distinguished experts in the field of youth violence.

  • Accessing Information Work Group - The focus of the Accessing Information Work Group is to explore ways that young people and families can better navigate services and provide access to a broad spectrum of programs.

ICC launches the Accessing Information Work Group at the Brooklyn Public Library’s Main Branch on July 15, 2010.

The membership of each work groups consists of representatives of city agencies, community-based-organizations and non-profits.
