Interagency Coordinating Council on Youth

The Interagency Coordinating Council on Youth (ICC) was created in 1989 to promote interagency collaboration on issues relevant to New York City youth and to support the well being of youth and families by utilizing the City of New York’s multitude of resources.  This is accomplished through partnerships among city-based agencies, community-based organizations and not-for-profit providers to eliminate duplication and where possible promote new initiative. The ICC comprises representatives of each city agency providing services to youth and is directed by DYCD Commissioner Jeanne B. Mullgrav. The ICC meets quarterly; meetings are rotated among member agencies and holds at least one public hearing annually.

MetLife Hosts Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC) Meeting on Youth Employment

On March 1, MetLife graciously hosted the latest meeting of the Interagency Coordinating Council on Youth, which focused on trends in youth employment. The aim of the meeting was to provide a well rounded look at this important topic, including up to date labor market information presented by Lesley Hirsch of the Labor Market Information Services.  Suzanne Foran of Henkels and McCoy highlighted how successful youth employment service providers work with businesses and Kevin Gallagher of AFLAC presented information from an employer’s perspective.  The meeting concluded with a presentation by Kevin Wardally, of the New York State Department of Labor who presented information on Governor Andrew Cuomo’s New York Youth Works initiative that is designed to provide tax credits to businesses who hire young people.  In addition to ICC members attendees included representatives from local workforce nonprofits, private companies, and New York City based agencies.
