Sanitation Schedules Public Meetings on Commercial Waste Issues
The New York City Department of Sanitation is welcoming interested New Yorkers to participate in a series of Public Meetings in each borough in which Sanitation representatives will take comments on commercial waste management issues affecting the City's communities. The Department is conducting an 18-month comprehensive study of commercial waste management to assess and plan for the future management of the commercial waste stream, to minimize potential adverse impact on the City's residential and business communities and the environment, and to assist in developing a new comprehensive solid waste management plan.

Expanded 'Operation Dumpster' Enforcement Delayed 90 Days
Sanitation Commissioner John J. Doherty announced today that he is delaying for 90 days the enforcement of the Department's expanded Operation Dumpster program that requires strict adherence to laws regarding the place and time commercial dumpsters must be placed out for collection. The program recently was extended from ten pilot districts to all of the city's 59 Sanitation Districts.

Sanitation Nabs Illegal Dumpers Citywide and Impounds Their Vehicles, Too
