As Chief Engineer for the Bureau of Engineering, Support Operations, Mr. Walsh is responsible for providing engineering support services to upgrade and maintain the infrastructure of the Department's facilities. He oversees a multi-disciplined technical staff, including consultants who are engaged in the design, contract administration, construction management and project management of capital construction projects.
His duties also include spearheading the construction program to design and build new garages at existing and new sites over the next ten years. These new garages will replace rental garage facilities which are inadequate to accommodate the increase need for equipment and personnel resulting from the growing demand for Sanitation services. During his tenure as Chief Engineer, the Department received Art Commission awards for Excellence in Design for four new garages. One of the garages has recently been completed, the remaining three are in construction and two additional new garages are being designed.
Mr. Walsh has been with the Department for 17 years and is a licensed professional engineer in the State of New York.
