Astoria Municipal Parking Field Closed Due to Construction Beginning May 1
The entire lot will be closed for approximately 2 months. The northern end of the parking lot will be reopened in July. The construction project is projected to last 4.5 months, at which time the entire lot will be reopened. Alternate Side of the Street Parking
The City suspends alternate side parking regulations, for both street cleaning purposes and traffic flow, on 34 legal and religious holidays. Read more about alternate side parking rules and download the calendar into formats for Outlook, Google Calendar and iCal here.

Metered Parking
New York City uses some of the most sophisticated parking equipment available today. We are always making improvements and upgrades to the system and you can always check back with us here for the latest enhancements. All meters accept coin payment. Select muni-meters accept credit cards. And at select locations you may pre-pay for parking using the NYC Parking Card.

Municipal Parking Facilities
Municipal parking facilities in all five boroughs have been upgraded to accept credit card payment, and also accept NYC Parking Cards and coins. For long-term parking, you can apply for a Municipal Parking Field Permit by completing this application (pdf).

The New York City Department of City Planning offers online street maps of the entire City showing off-street parking facilities along with nearby attractions.

Commercial Vehicle Parking
Find out where you can and cannot park a commercial vehicle.

Parking Permits
DOT issues parking permits for certain Government Agency Drivers and Fleet Managers (Agency Business Parking Permit (ABPP)) as well as Not-for-Profit Organizations (Annual On-Street Parking Permit (AOSPP)) and New York City residents with a disability that impairs mobility, (City or State Parking Permit for People with Disabilities (PPPD)). Parking Tickets
The New York City Department of Finance Parking Violations Operations unit provides information on parking rules and what to do if you get a ticket.

Parking enforcement is the responsibility of the New York City Police Department.

Locations for Credit Cards at Meters
Muni-Meters in Theatre District Accept Credit Cards
DOT is accepting credit cards at over 500 muni-meters in the midtown Theater District area of Manhattan. In this area, 3rd Ave to 8th Ave (East/West) from 57th to 43rd Streets (North/South) you can now use your Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover Network cards to pay for parking without an additional fee or minimum. These meters will continue to accept payment by quarter, dollar coin or NYC Parking Card. Look for the credit card logo on the meters in this area for acceptance.

Other Locations for Credit Card Payments
Manhattan: Canal Street (both sides between Bowery and West Broadway): paid commercial parking during the day and non-commercial nights and Saturday.
Upper West Side - Columbus Avenue, 77th to 81 Streets,
Amsterdam Avenue 86th and 87th Streets, and on West 72nd Street from Columbus Avenue to West End Avenue.
West 57th Street between 9th and 10th Avenues and Forsythe Street between Canal and Division Streets.
Yorkville on 86th Street from 1st Avenue to Madison Avenue. Greenwich Village area: muni-meters on Broadway and 6th Avenue between Waverly Place and on 9th Street and on 4th and 5th Avenues between 10th and 14th Streets.
Broadway from Central Park South to West 87th Street
On Ninth Avenue from 25th Street to 15th Streets both sides
Brooklyn: Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn from Hicks Street to Fourth Avenue.
Bay Parkway, 63rd to 72nd Streets (Avenue O).
Multi-space meters accept coin, credit cards and NYC Parking Card.
86th Street from Bay 14th to 21st Ave
Queens: Melbourne Avenue (near Queens College)
Sunnyside (under the #7 train) from 32nd Street to 48th Street and Skillman Avenue from 35th to 39th Streets.
Forest Hills - on Austin Street and Queens Boulevard (north and south sides) from Yellowstone Boulevard to Ascan Avenue and surrounding vicinity.
Main Street - LIE Service Road North to Elder Lane (including New York Hospital area).
Union Turnpike from Main Street to 193rd Street.
Metropolitan Avenue from 73rd to 80th Streets.
Myrtle Avenue from Forest Avenue to Cypress Avenue (effective 2/9/08).
Bronx:

Parkchester - Metropolitan Oval and vicinity
On White Plains Road from Gunhill Road to E 225th Street
On Gunhill Road from White Plains Road to Willet Avenue
On White Plains Road from E 225th Street to E 235th Street
On White Plains Road from E 235th Street to E 243rd Street
On E 241st Street from Furman Avenue to Richardson Avenue
On 233rd Street from Carpenter Avenue to Bussing Avenue
On Bronx Boulevard from E 235th Street to E 240th Street
On Katonah Avenue from E 235th Street to E 240th Street

Staten Island: Staten Island University Hospital - vicinity of Mason and Seaview Avenues.
