It’s that time of year again! We’re grabbing our backpacks, lacing up our sneakers and walking to school. DOT's Safety Education staff will be visiting schools across the city with interactive workshops and residency programs designed to explore neighborhood street safety. DOT is also gearing up to celebrate
International Walk to School Day with a week’s worth of events. Schools from each borough will be taking class walks to their nearby Safety Cities and will participate in fun, educational activities. Partners from
Safe Kids,
FedEx and many local hospital centers are joining in to share their knowledge of traffic safety as part of the effort to prevent injuries and stress the importance of walking.

Beat the Street: Global School Walking Challenge and our city-wide Design Competition!
