Emily Gallo is Chief of Staff at the NYC Department of Transportation. As a member of the senior leadership team, Emily supports the Commissioner’s role in advancing key agency priorities, including Vision Zero, NYC’s traffic safety initiative to reduce roadway fatalities and injuries to zero, preparing for the closure of the L train tunnel, improvements to bus performance on city streets, expanding the bicycle network and bike share, and maintaining our transportation assets in a state of good repair. Previously Emily served as Chief of Staff at the NYC Taxi of Limousine Commission, where she spearheaded the boro taxi program to bring legal taxi service to 6 million New Yorkers living outside the Manhattan Central Business District. Prior to joining the TLC, Emily worked as a transportation policy analyst in the NYC Mayor’s Office on PlaNYC, a long-term sustainability plan. Emily has a Masters in City Planning from UPENN and a B.A. in American Studies from Yale University. She lives in Washington Heights in Manhattan with her husband and two young daughters and regularly bikes to work.
