The City’s new plan will focus efforts on saving money through innovation and re-imagine government to continue bringing it into the 21st Century. DoITT will play a key role in leading the effort to make the City’s IT infrastructure and development more efficient and a model for modern cities.

DoITT joins the NYC Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment in celebrating Internet Week New York, the annual weeklong festival highlighting New York's thriving internet industry and community, with a series of unique events and announcements throughout the City. City technology initiatives such as NYCBigApps, NotifyNYC, NYCBusiness Express, CityMap, and 311Online play a special role at the Internet Week Headquarters.

Mayor Bloomberg and Information Technology and Telecommunications Commissioner Post Start Overhaul of Data Infrastructure at More Than 40 City Agencies
Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Deputy Mayor for Operations Edward Skyler and Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT) Commissioner Carole Post today announced a comprehensive plan to modernize and consolidate the outdated and often incompatible data infrastructure at more than 40 City agencies. The consolidation will lower the City’s cost of operations by up to $100 million over five years, reduce energy consumption and emissions, strengthen security, and improve overall IT service quality for agencies.
