NYPD Responders Memorialized
Nine more NYPD members who have died since responding to the World Trade Center disaster were memorialized by Mayor Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Kelly.
“In the weeks and months after September 11th, hundreds of members of the NYPD devoted long hours to rescue and recovery efforts amid the smoking wreckage there—and also at the Fresh Kills landfill,” said Mayor Bloomberg at a Police Memorial Wall ceremony in Battery Park, where the additional names of the fallen have been inscribed in granite. “And tragically, in the years since, some have seen their health decline, and even fail.”
