NIOSH Funds New WTC Research
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) funded eight new research projects through the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program established by the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act. Researchers will investigate a variety of concerns among WTC-exposed groups, including co-occurring mental and physical health conditions, pulmonary function abnormalities, cancer rates, cardiovascular events and smoking cessation. Funding for additional research projects will be available during the current fiscal year which began on October 1 for NIOSH.
