Special Master of 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund Appointed

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced that Sheila Birnbaum, an attorney with an extensive career in public service who has worked on behalf of 9/11 families, will serve as the Special Master of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund.

Ms. Birnbaum, a native New Yorker, will be responsible for publishing proposed rules to govern the Fund’s operations, taking public comment on the proposed rules, and holding public meetings to discuss the program before it begins operation later this year.
