Text4Baby sends health tips to pregnant women and new mothers through text messages. The service is free. The tips support a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. Topics include nutrition, preventing birth defects, immunizations, mental health concerns, and risks of tobacco use.
To register, text “BABY” to 511411 to get messages in English, or “BEBE” to get messages in Spanish. You’ll get a reply confirming that you want to participate, and asking what your due date is or how old your child is. Then, three times every week, you’ll get a message with information timed to your due date or your child’s age (until your baby is 1 year old).
This educational service is free for all cell phone users who use these participating providers: Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, MetroPCS, Cricket, US Cellular, and nTelos.
New York City’s text4baby coalition is sponsored in partnership with the Aetna Foundation.
