General Information
The Office of Vital Statistics is responsible for reporting, processing, and analyzing all vital events including births, deaths, and spontaneous and induced terminations of pregnancy in New York City. These data are derived from vital event certificates filed with the Office of Vital Records. This office is responsible for registering, archiving, amending, and issuing certified copies of all vital records in New York City.
