DEATHS

Information on the Electronic Death Registration System (EDRS)

This system enables medical facilities and funeral directors to report deaths electronically with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Detailed instructions for funeral homes and medical facilities on how to use EDRS are available. All funeral homes must complete death certificates electronically as well as all hospitals, nursing homes, and hospices that report 25 or more deaths each year.

Included below is a list of recent notices that may affect those who report deaths. Please check back periodically for new updates. If you have any questions, please contact the NYC Bureau of Vital Statistics by calling 212-788-4575 or sending us an email.
