Commissioner's Orders

A Commissioner's Order can be issued to patients with suspected or active pulmonary TB who are repeatedly non-adherent to TB treatment. These orders mandate increasingly restrictive measures ranging from examination to placement on directly observed therapy (DOT), to long-term detention (as a last resort).

There are five types of Commissioner's Orders:

• • D/D1: Commissioner's Orders for Examination
• • D2: Commissioner's Orders to Begin and/or Complete Treatment
• • D3: Commissioner's Orders for DOT
• • D4: Commissioner's Orders for Isolation
• • D5: Commissioner's Orders for Long-Term Detention
