Public Education
The Health Department works with coalitions of community organizations to achieve tobacco-free communities and schools. The Bureau carries out a wide range of community-based prevention activities, including the development and implementation of tobacco control interventions with community organizations, implementing targeted media campaigns and conducting trainings on the impact of smoking. The goals of these interventions are to increase the target community's awareness of the health risks of tobacco, to change attitudes relating to smoking, and increase the awareness of risks caused by secondhand smoke.
