Tomorrow is National
Depression Screening Day. Free screenings will be offered at sites
throughout New York
City.
One in four women and one in
ten men suffer from major depression during their lifetime. More than
430,000 New Yorkers suffer from depression, and nearly half go untreated.
Depression is an illness and
it’s treatable. New Yorkers who think they may be depressed should get
screened. Symptoms can include persistent sadness, loss of interest or
pleasure in activities that are normally enjoyable, change in appetite or
weight, and insomnia or oversleeping
