Poison Prevention
Serving the 12 million residents of NYC (Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn Staten Island), Nassau, Suffolk and Westchester Counties, the NYC Poison Control Center receives about 300 calls each day. About 78% of these emergencies occur in the home, and more than half of these calls to poison centers involve children under age five.

The poison control center is open 24 hours/day, 365 days/year, staffed by registered pharmacists and nurses certified in poison information. Access to the Language Line provides translation services in more than 150 languages,
and services are available for the hearing impaired who use telecommunications devices at (TDD) 212-689-9014. All services are confidential and free of charge to the public.
Publications & Educational Materials

NYC Poison Control Center educational materials including brochures, telephone stickers, and videos which are available free of charge. You can download brochures from this site or call the Poison Control Center to have copies mailed to you.
The Poison Control Center runs workshops available for children, caregivers/parents, older adults, and community-based organizations. Professional education conferences are also available for health care professionals. All services are confidential and free of charge to the public.
