Asthma Friendly Schools Award Program

Safe and healthy school environments benefit children as well as educators. In order to promote healthy schools for children and staff with asthma, the New York City Asthma Partnership (NYCAP) has created the Asthma Friendly Schools Award program to encourage and recognize New York City elementary schools that create and sustain safe, supportive, and asthma-friendly environments.

NYCAP seeks to publicize the award program to all New York City elementary schools. With its network of over 140,000 educators and school support staff members, the UFT can help spread the word about this new award opportunity by including announcements about the Asthma Friendly Schools Award opportunity in its online and print media.

The Asthma Friendly Schools Award program will be officially launched in September 2007. In the coming weeks and months, we will send regular emails about the award program, including application materials, instructions, and Frequently Asked Questions. Your participation in publicizing this unique opportunity to recognize exemplary schools where children can learn and educators can teach in safe, healthy environments will be invaluable.

Fort further questions please contact NYCAP at (212) 361-4191 or email nycap@health.nyc.gov.
