Your Child's Health at School

There are medical and screening services are available for NYC children while they are at school. Services to students include case management of chronic health problems, preventive health screenings, urgent care, medication administration, preventive counseling, health education, referral for care and assurance of ongoing effective treatment.

Medical Requirements for children entering a NYC school for the first time

PLEASE NOTE: The tuberculosis (TB) screening requirement for new entrants to secondary schools has been eliminated for the 2012-2013 school year. The number of school-aged children with tuberculosis has been on the decline, prompting the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to end the screening mandate
