The New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, Public Health Laboratory accepts specimens for HIV Antibody Screening from New York City Department of Health and New York City Health & Hospitals facilities. Specimens from patients suspected to be at-risk for infection with HIV-2 or variant subtypes of HIV-1 are accepted at no charge from any New York State licensed physician.
The Public Health Laboratory will continue to provide, at a charge of $60.00 per specimen, HIV-1 supplemental Western Blot testing for New York State licensed HIV screening laboratory for supplemental testing of reactive EIA specimens.
