In addition to the classes and training offered by the New York City Health Department, there are various other educational opportunities
in the field of emergency management.
- FEMA National Preparedness Directorate National Training and Education: includes the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), the Emergency Management Institute (EMI), and the National Training and Education Division (NTED)
- CDC Emergency Preparedness and Response: includes Planning, Desigin, Conducting, and Evluating Local Public Health Emergency Exercises, Risk Communications and more.
- National Center for Disease Preparedness: Columbia University provides resources and
distance learning opportunities.
- Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT): educates people about disaster preparedness for
hazards that may impact their area and trains them
in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety,
light search and rescue, team organization, and
disaster medical operations.
