Embedded Coaching Approaches
Contemporary practices in early intervention endorse using ongoing, authentic, methods to understand child functioning in everyday routine activities, and embedding developmental interventions within those routine activities. This is known as Embedded Interventions. Collaborative coaching is also used to support children’s primary caregivers (e.g., family members, child care providers) in applying developmental strategies in between professional visits. Putting these practices together results in a cohesive approach called Embedded Coaching. This approach is nationally supported and demonstrated to be effective.
