Public Hearing for the 2007 NYC Local Government Plan for Mental Health Services
Local Mental Health Planning
Section 5.07 of the New York State Mental Hygiene Law requires state and local government to develop comprehensive plans for the provision of state and local mental hygiene services, and to develop these plans with the participation of stakeholders. In New York City, the Division of Mental Hygiene (DMH) of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is responsible for developing these annual plans to describe the local mental health service system and identify unmet needs and areas for improvement. The input of NYC consumers, providers, families and advocates is critical to ensuring that NYC’s local plan provides an accurate assessment of the status of the City’s mental health service system. To that effect, DMH is holding a public hearing to obtain stakeholder and public input for the 2007 Local Mental Health Plan.
