Instructor's
Guide
The Instructors' Guide
is designed to assist the health educator (or other training
team members) in preparing the training sessions. It contains
activities to guide the participants' learning and monitor their
progress. Included in this manual are engaging strategies that
can be used to individualize learning, as well as, a toolkit
to facilitate program/ training planning.
The manual begins with a comprehensive listing of the various
skills necessary for anyone providing the training, the types
of individuals who make up the training team, and key instructional
resources that can be accessed at any time.
The next several sections of the manual offer supplementary
topics that can be used as a useful reference for the current
training materials. These sections are designed to provide quick
familiarity with several health concepts and models that may
be new pieces of information or add to what you already know
about these areas.
The remainder of the manual consists of the actual sessions
utilized during the training. The activities within the sessions
are designed to provide hands-on demonstrations to expand the
knowledge and skills of the program participants. They allow
the participants to see the key concepts and applications first-hand,
and how they can be used within their clinic.

Program Handbook
The Program Handbook is specifically designed for the staff
receiving training on the Creating a Medical Home for Asthma
program. It provides clinic staff with a comprehensive, easy-to-use
tool to enhance their training experience. It also emphasizes
how staff members can work together as a team.
By providing the agenda and handouts for each session, the
user can appropriately prepare for the activities being conducted
during each session .
In addition to the agenda and handouts, materials for each
session contains useful information about the activities introduced
throughout the training. Each set of activities requires you
to apply your knowledge of real-life problems to the hypothetical
situations presented.
It also serves as a resource tool for reviewing the concepts
presented in each session.
