Healthy Workplaces

Did you know:
  • Obesity costs private employers an
estimated $45 billion dollars a year.

  • Sugar-sweetened beverages are the single
biggest contributor to the obesity epidemic.

  • Outside of the home, the workplace is the
#1 place where sugary drinks are consumed.

Join the New York City Health Department in combating obesity and making workplaces healthier for the city's employees. Obesity increases the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer—all of which reduce the quality of life, increase employee absenteeism and contribute to lost productivity in the workplace. In New York City, approximately 60% of adults are overweight or obese, meaning that almost every employer will grapple with obesity-related costs.
