Summer Day Camps
Summer day camp should be a great experience for children and is often a necessity for working parents. The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is dedicated to protecting the health and safety of all children who attend camps in New York City. For this reason, the Department requires that summer camps are permitted and inspected every year. This directory lists the summer camps that received permits from the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in 2008.
The Department does not endorse any of the camps in this directory; it is merely a list to help you find a camp convenient to your home or work. The Department recommends that you research and visit the camp in which you are interested to see if it will meet your needs (i.e. trips, activities, swimming, sports, and special needs). Camps that were closed by the Department during this past summer are not listed, and some of the camps listed may not operate in the summer of 2008.
