New Façade Requirements
On March 27, the Department passed
Rule 32-03 which establishes
staggered inspection cycles and new
inspection report requirements for exterior walls and appurtenances of buildings greater than six stories in height. The filing window for Cycle 7 submissions begins on February 21, 2010.

Nightly Job Site Requirements
The new NYC Construction Codes include new inspection and filing requirements to advance construction site safety for workers and the public. The Department has created a
guide that summarizes the nightly job site inspection requirements.

Smoking Prohibited on all Construction Sites
The 2008 Building Code, effective July 1, 2008, requires contractors to maintain safe conditions at building sites and provides that construction operations affecting fire prevention comply with the New York City Fire Code. (See Building Code sections
3301.1.2 and
3303.7.) As per section 1404.1 of the new Fire Code, effective July 1, 2008, smoking on any construction (including demolition) site is strictly prohibited. To learn more, view the

Cranes & Derricks On-Site Waivers
Effective January 2, 2007 written notification of an on-site inspection waiver pursuant to Section 8.1.3 of Reference Standard ("RS") 19-2 should be submitted to the Cranes & Derricks Division no later than 2 business days prior to the proposed operation of the crane.
