CUNY Hunter College’s School of
Social Work is the latest
construction project to take
advantage of public art from the
Department’s urbancanvas Design
Competition. CUNY chose “My
Urban Sky” by artist Jen
Magathan to wrap the safety
equipment of the new,
eight-story, 147,000-square foot
School of Social Work, currently
under construction on Third Ave.
between East 118th and 119th
Streets.

Staff Spotlight |
New Deputy Commissioner
of Legal Affairs
|
On December 6, 2010, Susan J. Pogoda
joined the Department of Buildings
as Deputy Commissioner of Legal
Affairs, bringing more than 25 years
of legal experience and |
|
public service. For nearly 20 years, she served in
the Claims Bureau in the Office of
the New York State Attorney General
as Assistant Attorney General, Tort
Section Chief and Bureau Chief.
Most recently, she served at the New
York Liquidation Bureau.
At the Department, Deputy
Commissioner Pogoda oversees the
Office of the General Counsel and
the Loft Board, coordinates the
proposal and implementation of
legislative changes within the
Department and oversees the drafting
of new legislation and rules. She
also oversees a team of attorneys,
provides legal support on policy and
regulatory issues and works to ensure
industry compliance with the NYC
Construction Codes and the Zoning
Resolution.
Deputy Commissioner Pogoda received a Juris Doctor from the
Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law
and a Bachelor’s Degree from
Brooklyn College.
